Leadership Coaching
As a qualified Education Leadership Coach, I have worked with school leaders, managers and aspiring Heads, in the U.K. and overseas, to empower them to fulfil their personal and professional potential, in addition to coaching executives in other sectors, such as the N.H.S.
I help clients identify and address issues that enable them to strengthen and enhance their professional performance. School leaders need to look after themselves and their needs in order to be able to look after the needs of others. As someone who has dealt with the challenges of leading large, complex organisations, I can provide empathetic, insightful support to enable effective decision making and help clients deal successfully with what really matters.
I am a member of the Institute of Leadership and Management and International Coach Federation (ILM). The ILM requires its members to work within a globally acknowledged ethical framework when coaching/mentoring, which includes adhering to strict guidance about confidentiality and coach behaviours. Coaching sessions are conducted with transparency and integrity and aim to support fantastic outcomes for clients.
I can provide:
- Coaching/mentoring for senior leaders/aspiring Heads and executive leaders
- Coaching/mentoring that supports the strengthening of strategic vision and development planning
- Coaching/mentoring in effective change management
Coaching/mentoring can be enhanced by being taken away from an indoor space, or screen, and into the great outdoors. Bespoke off-site venues to meet, and experiences to be enjoyed, can be arranged.
Coaching Testimonials
IAPS Head:
‘I am so grateful and fortunate to have been able to work with Patrick. He coaches with exceptional empathy and compassion and seems able intuitively to know what is needed – whether that be prompted by a well-chosen question, or some wise words. When I first worked with Patrick, I was very new to headship and was suffering with a serious case of imposter syndrome. I felt like Patrick ‘saw’ me and felt out what I needed. With his help, I now feel confident in my role and know I have a friend as well as a coach: someone who’s been there and really knows what he’s talking about.’
Aspiring IAPS Head (since appointed Head):
‘Coaching has enabled me to explore thoughts and feelings around particular issues and to formalise these into action points. I found this particularly useful, approaching a new leadership position, as it enabled me to explore concerns and doubts I had as well as cementing areas of strength. At the end of the process, I feel more confident in approaching the challenges ahead. I would recommend Patrick’s coaching for anyone taking on a new job or facing a specific issue they wish to work through.’
IAPS Head:
‘Patrick’s calm manner and sincerity creates a platform for open honest dialogue. Genuine reflection is skilfully drawn by his ability to reassure, pose searching questions and empower you to speak freely and confidently. He listens actively, builds a professional bond, that is without judgement, and provides relevant, practical guidance for personal development. It has been an enjoyable and valuable experience.’
IAPS Head:
‘Patrick’s relaxed style allowed conversation to flow naturally but, through his probing and insightful questions, he ensured that it was always steered back to our agreed goals. Due to his wealth of experience, his sessions have provided valuable opportunities for exploration and self-reflection through a wide variety of leadership and pedagogical topics.’
British International School Head Designate (now Head Teacher):
‘The prospect of becoming the school leader is a rather daunting one, but I have come away from our discussions not only feeling that I will be able to tackle the challenges ahead but also with a sense of excitement of the journey to come.’
